These goals have always seemed to be mutually exclusive. Removing costs usually comes down to removing labor in a 3PL environment. As a generalization, cutting costs (through labor reductions) increases errors and leads to reduced, not enhanced, customer service.
There is an answer to this though – reduce labor by removing work, not workers.
NZ Customs seizes over one tonne of ‘P’ precursor last year
The New Zealand Customs Services has, for the first time, intercepted over one tonne of methamphetamine precursor ContacNT in a single calendar year. The one tonne mark was passed in November 2009.
The amount Customs intercepted last year was enough to manufacture at least 246 kilograms of methamphetamine, or ‘P’, saving an estimated $138.6 million dollars [...]
