Born in the very deep south at Riverton, attended school at Aparima College at 16 started as an apprentice Fitter, Turner Machinist at Crown Crystal Glass in Christchurch. Moved to Australia when this was completed working in various roles with BHP. Then joined the NSW Corrective Services, moved quickly on from being a “screw” to suicide intervention officer, gaining a valuable education and insight into people. I left as there as the wins for me and changing the system just took way to long.
I completed a graduate in OSH while being self employed. I went back to ACI Glass while contracting and stayed with them as a trainer for 2 ½ years. They are a great bunch there. Having started in engineering and then as a self employed person it has exposed me to a great number of roles and industries. Through this diversification James Flynn who owns Coverstaff offered me a position with his company, I started as an employee and now I am a share holder and the GM.
I have been fortunate to be given good guidance at work, a quality education, attended some fantastic development workshops and been exposed to very successful business people along the way with a wealth of knowledge they have freely shared with me. I have been involved with building a really strong brand in Coverstaff and work with a great team. I can truly say hand on heart, that there is no one who works with me who has not got the best interests of the business at heart
There has been lots of highlights throughout my career, lots of adventures and ventures which would not all fit on this page. I am currently doing a Masters of Business. I have won a couple of NZ awards for H&S and I am lucky “my work is my play”. When you follow your passion, your pension follows you!
